Electronic conduction in La-based perovskite-type oxides

چکیده
A systematic study of La-based perovskite-type oxides from the viewpoint of their electronic conduction properties was performed. LaCo0.5Ni0.5O3±δ was found to be a promising candidate as a replacement for standard metals used in oxide electrodes and wiring that are operated at temperatures up to 1173 K in air because of its high electrical conductivity and stability at high temperatures. LaCo0.5Ni0.5O3±δ exhibits a high conductivity of 1.9 × 103 S cm-1 at room temperature (R.T.) because of a high carrier concentration n of 2.2 × 1022 cm-3 and a small effective mass m∗ of 0.10 me. Notably, LaCo0.5Ni0.5O3±δ exhibits this high electrical conductivity from R.T. to 1173 K, and little change in the oxygen content occurs under these conditions. LaCo0.5Ni0.5O3±δ is the most suitable for the fabrication of oxide electrodes and wiring, though La1-x Sr x CoO3±δ and La1-x Sr x MnO3±δ also exhibit high electronic conductivity at R.T., with maximum electrical conductivities of 4.4 × 103 S cm-1 for La0.5Sr0.5CoO3±δ and 1.5 × 103 S cm-1 for La0.6Sr0.4MnO3±δ because oxygen release occurs in La1-x Sr x CoO3±δ as elevating temperature and the electrical conductivity of La0.6Sr0.4MnO3±δ slightly decreases at temperatures above 400 K.

Diffuse dielectric anomaly in perovskite-type ferroelectric oxides in the temperature range of 400–700°C
The diffuse dielectric anomaly by the dielectric relaxation found at the high-temperature region of 400–700 °C was investigated in perovskite-type ferroelectric oxides such as BaTiO3 , (Pb,La!TiO3 , and (Pb,La!~Zr,Ti!O3 ceramics. We observed that the diffuse dielectric anomaly in perovskite oxides was strongly affected by oxygen-related processing parameters. We have modified the Debye relaxati...
متن کاملPhysical properties of perovskite-type lithium ionic conductor
The purpose of this chapter is to understand the ionic conduction of perovskite-type oxides. It is based on the fundamental theories of perovskite structure, ionic conductivity, conductivity measurement, X-ray diffraction and Rietveld analysis, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Typical examples of lithium ionic conductor are introduced. Introduction Perovskite-type oxides have been consider...
متن کاملExperimental and Kinetic Study of CO Oxidation Over LaFe1-xCuxO3 (x=0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) Perovskite-Type Oxides
In this paper, catalytic oxidation of CO over the LaFe1-xCuxO3 (x= 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) perovskite-type oxides was investigated. The catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel method and characterized by XRD, BET, FT-IR, H2-TPR and SEM methods. The catalytic activity of catalysts was tested in catalytic oxidation of CO. XRD patterns confirmed the synthesized perovskites to be single-phase perovskite-ty...
متن کاملA high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas at the spinel/perovskite interface of γ-Al2O3/SrTiO3.
The discovery of two-dimensional electron gases at the heterointerface between two insulating perovskite-type oxides, such as LaAlO(3) and SrTiO(3), provides opportunities for a new generation of all-oxide electronic devices. Key challenges remain for achieving interfacial electron mobilities much beyond the current value of approximately 1,000 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1) (at low temperatures). Here we c...
متن کاملThermodynamic Quantities and Defect Structure of La 0.6 Sr 0.4 Co 1-y Fe y O 3-d ( y=0–0.6) from High-Temperature Coulometric Titration Experiments
The partial energies and entropies of O2 in perovskite-type oxides La0.6Sr0.4Co12yFeyO32d ( y 5 0, 0.1, 0.25, 0.4, 0.6) were determined as a function of nonstoichiometry d by coulometric titration of oxygen in the temperature range 650–950°C. An absolute reference value of d was obtained by thermogravimetry in air. The nonstoichiometry at a given oxygen pressure and temperature decreases with i...
